Greetings, Church Family.

We have several things to update you on this week, beginning, of course, with our Covid 19 response. At the present time, we’re planning to have the doors shut for the next two Sundays (November 22 and 29.) The governor has stated that he plans to talk to denominational leaders tomorrow, so we’ll keep you apprised. Our current guidance is that the church doors will be closed as long as Madison County is rated “Red” in terms of risk of contagion. You can check our status week to week on the church web page in the big box labeled “Covid 19” towards the bottom of the page.

While you’re there, you can also access our Sunday worship services and other online resources.

Advent is just around the corner, and we have some special plans in the works. This weekend (probably on either Friday or Saturday) our in town church family should expect a delivery from the church. The packet will include an update letter and a number of resources for celebrating Advent together. For those of you who are out of town, we’ll make as much of the material as we can available online by next Wednesday.

On Sunday, November 29, as part of our regular online worship times, we will be celebrating our “Hanging of the Green.” Join us as we decorate our sanctuary (and homes!) for the holiday season and reflect on the meaning of Advent together.

We’ll also be holding two Christmas Eve celebrations on December 24. At 6:00 PM we will have an online candle light service. We’d like those of you who are up for a little adventure to participate on your phones or other mobile devices from somewhere downtown near the church. As the service closes, we’ll invite you to step out onto the sidewalks of Main Street carrying your candles as we sing together and present the light of Christ to our community. If you prefer to participate from home, feel free to step out onto your front porch and shed Christ’s light in your own community.

At 11:30 PM, we will host an online service of Holy Communion to usher in Christmas morning in worship.

Don’t forget to keep up with everything else church related by checking out these weekly updates and visiting the church web page.

And now a few words from some of the rest of your staff:

From Jamie J:

Soon, a container will be place inside the rear doors of the main building for your winter clothing donations. If you have any coats, jackets, gloves, hats, or scarves that you’d like to donate, we’ll see that they go to people in need. Simply stop by the church during the week, press the buzzer, and someone in the office will let you in to drop off your donations. Thank you!

We continue to encourage you to think of those in our church family that you haven’t seen nor heard from in a while. Please make contact with them to check in. The church staff is very willing to help those who are not connected to our online worship offerings. Just call the church at 859-623-3580 to let us know who needs a hand.

Upper Room devotionals are just inside the rear doors of the church. During the week, just press the buzzer for someone in the office to let you in to pick one up. They are located in a box on the bench.

From Jamelle:

I hope all is well with you all during this season of transition and growth. I first would like to thank all of you who trusted us with your students during the youth group as well as our hybrid style Fall Retreat. As much as we would love to continue to meet in person, church leadership has decided that we go back to meeting online via zoom with the youth group like we had the first two months of me being here. I understand that decision due to the growing number of COVID cases. As a youth ministry, we will go back to meeting online until further notice. I will let you know way in advance when we can meet again.

I had sent this message to the parents in the message group. If you are not in the message group, please contact me so that I can place you in the parent group. If you have not received the zoom link or want to know what is going on, email me back, and I can get you the zoom link as well as our social media platforms.

Youth Group is Wednesday nights from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm.

Thanks for being flexible.
Any questions, comments, or concerns; email or call me.

Until Every Student Hears,
Jamelle Jones
