Greetings Church Family,
First of all, I want to thank all of you who contributed to the Pastor Appreciation video last Sunday. I can’t tell you how much it lifted my spirits!
This coming week includes our church’s Charge Conference. This will be a Zoom meeting which includes some worship and a learning time provided by District Leadership. There will also be a series of votes, but because of the nature of this year’s Charge Conference, there will be no discussion of the votes. Our Administrative Council has already reviewed the documents we’ll be voting on, which include a slate of Church Officers and an annual budget. If you would like copies of either of those documents in their current form, you may request them by e-mailing the church office. As these documents are finalized (probably around the first of December, we will post them as part of a weekly update.
If you wish to attend the Charge Conference via Zoom, you may request an invitation by emailing me at .
We also want to let you know that we are working on some of our favorite Holiday Traditions, Covid style. The details are still in development, but we WILL have some version of the Hanging of the Green on November 29, as well as a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. Both of these events will be designed with both in person and online participation in mind.
Now for a few words from Jamie J:
1) The November/December edition of The Upper Room is available on the bench inside the rear door of the main building. If you stop by during the week, simply press the buzzer and the office will buzz you in to get your copy.
2) At this time, our Life Groups have been meeting for about six weeks. Our openness to new members is symbolized by an empty chair in our Life Group gatherings. As a reminder to everyone, these groups are open and welcoming to new members. So if you haven’t yet taken the step to get involved, please contact Jamie Jordan at . We have groups meeting on Wednesday and Thursdays evenings, by Zoom and in-person. We look forward to helping you find your Life Group to share what God is doing in your life. Here’s the website post if you’re not sure what a Life Group is all about: https://richmondfumc.org/
3) What’s going on with “Room in the Inn”? We’re getting that question a lot and frankly, we’re still working on it. “Room in the Inn” is a ministry that houses the homeless in our church buildings during the winter months. This is especially challenging during the pandemic. Our current plan is to utilize a voucher system to house the homeless in a local motel. Upcoming meetings should enable us to finalize our plans so the people God has called us to care for…are cared for.
And from Jamelle:
Greetings Church Family,
I have two big announcements for you all.
The first announcement is that we will start our hybrid version of the youth group this Wednesday! Students will have the opportunity (if you choose to) to come in person in the MMC, and others that feel uncomfortable or at high risk can still meet via the zoom link that has been provided for a few weeks now. I sent out an email describing our plan for this hybrid version. Please go back and read the last email.
Secondly, WE ARE HAVING FALL RETREAT!
This year, we will not be going to Aldersgate Camp, but we have a hybrid version of the fall retreat coming! Mark your calendars for November 6th – 8th. The times for the fall retreat are Friday from 7 pm to 9 pm, Saturday 11 am to 1 pm, and Sunday from 1 pm to 3 pm. We will have students meet virtually on the same youth group zoom link on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday is meeting in person at the MMC socially distanced for the last talk and communion. If a student doesn’t feel comfortable coming on Sunday, the youth group link will be available too. Here are below are important details:
Sunday Schedule in Person:
Head home or Stay for THRIVE Service.
Registration Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/
Kits: We, as a student ministry leadership team, will be delivering kits to the doorsteps of homes. These kits will be interactive pieces that connect with the speaker of that day. There will be other trinkets inside the kits that will help bring the fall retreat experience to the students.
The link to Clarity Fall Retreat is the same as the youth group online link.
Overall, the youth group meets from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm Every Wednesday. If you need the zoom link, have any questions, comments, or concerns, contact the church office and ask for Jamelle. If not, email me at . And if you are not on the email list that Jamelle has, please contact him by calling the church office or email.
Until Every Student Hears,
