So big in the news this week is our plan to reopen in-person worship. We’ll have service in the morning at 10:45am and Thrive in the evening at 6:00pm. Here’s what to expect if you join us:

You should be met at the door by a greeter, who will check your temperature. If you are not wearing a mask, they will give you one to use for the morning. Masks will be required for all participants throughout the building.

Most of our Sunday School classes are still meeting online, and not in person, so before you make the trip to the church during Sunday School hour, double check with your class leader.

We won’t be serving coffee, cookies, or donuts, and we can’t provide child care options at this time.

You will be seated along with the other members of your household (people who live together throughout the week) and at least six feet from other households. We’ll invite you to limit your bathroom breaks and please enter and exit the bathrooms one at a time.

During worship, we wont’ be encouraging handshaking or hugs, or other personal contact. We invite you to sing along very softly, or to simply listen as we enjoy music together.

Please don’t come to church if you’re not feeling well, or if you are in an “at risk” category. If you’re not comfortable in public groups yet, that’s okay, too. Our services will still be live streamed and may be accessed through the church web page here, either at worship time, or any time throughout the week.

We look forward to the day when we can return to some of our more “normal” behaviors, but in the meantime, we’re committed to keeping everybody safe and healthy.

A few words, now, from the rest of the staff:

From Sequoia:

Get ready for WNL virtual style. This year we are doing a lot of things differently and adapting. So, WNL is no different! Childrens Ministry in partnership with Adult Ministry will be hosting a family WNL zoom video-based gathering starting 9/9 6:30pm for 30mintues to share, read scripture, and to be encouraged to live out the lesson with a weekly activity. We will be studying the book of Ephesians, guided by Phil Vischer, VeggieTales co-creator. Our theme for the fall semester is HOPE! We hope to see you there…see what I did there.

Please make sure you are in our remind group for all updates and information as it relates to children ministry. You can join by texting @uptownfumc to 81010.

From Jamelle:

Greetings Church Family,
I hope everyone is doing well during this transitional season, and I am praying for all of you as you are tending to all students going to school. Youth Group Online, for middle schoolers and high schoolers, is every Wednesday at 6:30 pm. I have sent out the zoom link to the parent and church member list that I currently have. If you have not received any link for the youth group, please contact the church office to speak to Jamelle or email . The youth worker team is discussing future events for the student ministry and will have those details as soon as possible. We will continue to meet via zoom until further notice. If you would like more information about our student ministry or what are doing, please follow us on our Emerge account on Instagram or our Facebook Page called, Emerge Youth. Thank you for your patience and your praying hearts.
