What is “Room in the Inn”?

“Room In The Inn” began with a simple act of hospitality. Charles Strobel, then the priest of a congregation in East Nashville, invited people into his church building for the night when they had nowhere else to go. Struck by the realization that hundreds of congregations had warm, hospitable spaces, Strobel invited other houses of worship to open their doors to neighbors struggling with homelessness.

We, in Richmond, desire to show this same hospitality to our community. Our goal is to provide overnight lodging, food, and fellowship for those in need from November 15 to March 15.

How can you help?

The “Room in the Inn” Committee has invited FUMC to join other churches in being a host site this winter.  We need 7-14 host sites to be able to make “Room in the Inn” happen in Richmond.  Please consider attending our informational meeting to discern if God is calling you to be a part of this ministry!
